You put your name in a hat (an actual hat!) and 10 people’s names are drawn at random. When your name is pulled you get 5 minutes to tell your personal true story. At the end of the evening everyone votes by text for their favorite story of the night. If that’s you, you get $50 and will join the other monthly winners in December for our GrandSlam at the Historic Mystic Theater. Sounds like fun, right?

This event is free and open to the public as part of Arts Alive Read by Jennifer March of Petaluma Readers Theatre, Actress Kristine Redko, PKCT’s own Raine Howe and MORE! Each reader will share a classic or original short story lasting between 5 and 15 minutes. Concessions will be open to enjoy your favorite beverage during story readings! Doors open at 6PM, first story begins at 6:30PM and event will conclude by 8:30PM

Time: Doors open at 5:00, Show from 5:30-7:00 Description: The polyrhythmic heat of Evie Ladin’s clawhammer banjo, resonant voice, real stories and rhythmic dance have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Lincoln Center, Celtic Connections to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Brazil to Bali. A prolific creator and gracious facilitator, Evie grew up steeped in traditional folk music/dance up and down the East Coast, bringing a syncretic vision to new work while holding fast to the roots. Evie writes clever lyrics with mature arrangements, calls rowdy square dances for urban crowds, choreographs new body music/percussive dance for contemporary dance and film, leads seminars in movement anthropology, rocks straight up old time clawhammer banjo, and gardens, from the vibrant home base of Oakland, California. She’s won ribbons and arts fellowships, performed in sold out concert halls and cozy living rooms, and toured around the world, to every state in the US except Florida.
